National Youth Working Committee & Directorates

The National Youth Working Committee is chaired by Emmanuel Okai Mintah, a seasoned party activist with extensive experience in various roles within the NDC, including Deputy Eastern Regional Treasurer and Eastern Regional Youth Organizer. The committee is tasked with leading the Youth Wing’s operations, especially in the campaign efforts leading up to the elections. Okai Mintah is supported by Vice Chairman Kweku Asiedu Nketiah Jnr. The committee members bring diverse backgrounds and expertise, enhancing their ability to address the needs and aspirations of young Ghanaians effectively.

NATIONAL YOUTH WORKING COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN

Emmanuel Okai Mintah

Emmanuel Okai Mintah has a longstanding service to the party, spanning roles as a TEIN Activist, Constituency Executive Member (Akim Oda), Deputy Eastern Regional Treasurer, Eastern Regional Youth Organizer, and now Chairman of, the National Youth Working Committee, which reflects his commitment to the NDC. He is an accomplished entrepreneur with interests primarily in the mining sector. He holds certifications as a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and a Project Management Professional (PMI). His academic credentials include a Bachelor of Laws degree from Brunel University London, Executive Development in Supply Chain Management, Executive Development in Transport and Logistics from the University of Ghana Business School, and a BSc in Business Administration from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology.

VICE CHAIRMAN

Kwaku Asiedu Nketia Jnr

Dr. Kwaku Asiedu-Nketiah Jnr is the Vice Chairman of the National Youth Working Committee. He is a dedicated youth activist with extensive experience and has been a longstanding member of the National Democratic Congress. He has shown immense commitment to the party, particularly in championing youth causes in his home region and the nation as a whole. In addition to his political involvement, he is an accomplished financial consultant with a strong background in corporate governance and financial management. Dr. Asiedu-Nketiah Jnr holds MSc  in Finance & Management from Herlot Watts University and BBA in Accounting & Management from Mount Royal University. He has been honored with prestigious awards such as CEO of The Year at the Ghana Youth Leadership Award 2023 and the Excellence in Quality Leadership Award in Paris, 2015. Notably, he has made significant contributions to major projects, including a $30 billion infrastructure deal for Cameroon and the discovery of Lithium in Ghana. Driven by a thirst for knowledge, Kwaku holds a DPhil in Management Science at the Central University of Technology. Beyond his professional endeavors, Dr. Asiedu-Nketiah is dedicated to nation-building and philanthropy. He actively mentors Ghanaian youth through the Kwaku Asiedu-Nketiah Family organization.

SECRETARY

Solomon Nii Afutu Quartey

Solomon Nii Afutu Quartey is the Secretary of the National Youth Working Committee. He is a PhD Candidate in Business Administration with a focus in Project Management. He also holds a BSC in Human Resource Management and an MBA in Human Resource Management. He has extensive experience in youth development, land administration, and has held various roles within the political party. Solomon is highly regarded as a youth activist with a strong commitment to youth development, youth employment, and empowerment.

The NDC Youth Wing’s nine directorates cover various sectors critical to youth engagement and development:

Directorate for Administration

The Directorate for Administration is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the NDC Youth Wing. This includes managing internal communications, maintaining records, and ensuring that all activities are conducted efficiently and by party policies.

Operations

The Operations Directorate focuses on the logistical aspects of the Youth Wing’s activities. This includes organizing events, coordinating campaigns, and ensuring that all operations run smoothly and effectively.

Communications & Press Relations

The Communications & Press Relations Directorate handles the Youth Wing’s interactions with the media and the public. This involves crafting press releases, managing social media accounts, and ensuring that the NDC Youth Wing’s message is communicated to the wider audience.

Campaign and Advocacy

The Campaign and Advocacy Directorate is tasked with planning and executing political campaigns and advocacy initiatives. This includes developing strategies to promote the party’s agenda and mobilizing support among young voters.

Volunteers & Surrogates

The Volunteers & Surrogates Directorate recruits and manages volunteers who support the Youth Wing’s activities. They also coordinate the efforts of surrogate speakers and representatives who advocate on behalf of the NDC in various forums.

International Relations and Strategic Partnerships

This directorate is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with international organizations and strategic partners. They work to promote the NDC Youth Wing’s interests on a global stage and facilitate collaboration with like-minded groups.

Student Affairs and Elections

The Student Affairs and Elections Directorate focuses on engaging with students and youth organizations. They oversee the establishment and support of TEIN (Tertiary Education Institutions Network) branches and coordinate student involvement in elections and other political activities.

TEIN (Tertiary Education Institutions Network)

TEIN is a special wing within the NDC Youth Wing that operates within tertiary institutions. This directorate is responsible for organizing and managing TEIN branches, ensuring that the party’s presence and activities are strong in universities and colleges.

Research, Policy & Innovation

The Research, Policy & Innovation Directorate researches to inform the Youth Wing’s policy positions and advocacy efforts. They also focus on innovative approaches to addressing the challenges facing young people in Ghana.

Special Projects and Duties

This directorate handles special projects and assignments that do not fall under the purview of the other directorates. They take on unique initiatives that require dedicated focus and resources.

Social Inclusion

The Social Inclusion Directorate works to ensure that the Youth Wing’s activities are inclusive and representative of all segments of Ghanaian society. They focus on promoting diversity and addressing issues related to social justice and equity.
